St. C Printmaking Workshop

The first printmaking outreach workshop took place on Friday April 5 at the St Clairsville Public Library. We worked on simple white line printmaking using styrofoam (polystyrene) from takeout containers. Here is the example matrix (right) and print (left) created by intern, Amanda:

High school and middle school kids noodled on designs and then carefully drew designs into the polystyrene. The pen depresses the material and creates a white line when the ink is rolled out. Rainbow rolls were popular as they printed on paper, cards, and canvas bags. It was a successful event and everyone had fun with the project!
