Good news! We’ve made contacts in Martins Ferry that are getting pumped up about the project. One guy writes for the local newspaper and wants to create a story about what the collective will bring to Martins Ferry. Another is very interested in partnering with us to create a community garden.
We’ll be inducted into the Legal Clinic this June to start the process of becoming incorporated, etc. We need to organize like a non-profit so that we build credibility when seeking fiscal sponsorship. There are a handful of non-profits in the Ohio Valley whose mission statements align with our goals so hopefully someone will be willing to partner with us while we get our feet on the ground. That way, people can make tax-exempt donations to us through our fiscal sponsor even though we ourselves won’t yet be tax-exempt. Who doesn’t like tax-exemption??
stay tuned, Siena
