Landscape Beginnings

In the misty morning, Julia fired up a tiller and churned up the dirt in one of the garden beds.

Her dad found a squirmy neighbor none too happy about all the noise.

Since the weather was sort of muddy, we didn’t end up tilling the other beds, but that will happen soon!

Brooke was busy with a different sort of landscaping.

When I (Siena) showed her a project online about shaving a maze design in a rug, Brooke’s eyes lit up with intensity. We had to make it happen or else she’d never forgive me.

First, she taped out a design on the bath mat (the only rug we could find that was shaggy enough).

The shaver I ordered was a bust, but Brooke was determined and spent several hours snipping the design out with shears.

In the end, she created a loverly (misspelled on purpose) floor mat. Pretty great for a spring break project, right?
